Diarrhea

Description: Diarrhea is a medical condition characterized by the frequent expulsion of liquid or semi-liquid stools. This disorder can be acute or chronic, depending on its duration and underlying cause. Acute diarrhea, lasting less than two weeks, is often triggered by viral, bacterial, or parasitic infections, as well as the consumption of spoiled food. On the other hand, chronic diarrhea persists for more than four weeks and may result from underlying conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome, celiac disease, or inflammatory bowel disease. Associated symptoms include abdominal cramps, dehydration, nausea, and, in some cases, fever. Dehydration is one of the most severe complications of diarrhea, especially in children and the elderly, and may require immediate medical treatment. Diarrhea is a significant public health issue in many parts of the world, particularly in developing countries where access to clean water and sanitation services is limited. Prevention and treatment of diarrhea include oral rehydration, the use of anti-diarrheal medications, and, in some cases, antibiotics, depending on the cause. Education on hygiene and food safety also plays a crucial role in reducing the incidence of this condition.
