Group-Based Access Control

Description: Group-Based Access Control (GBAC) is a method of access rights management that is based on group membership rather than assigning permissions to individual user accounts. This approach allows organizations to manage access to resources and systems more efficiently and securely, facilitating the administration of permissions on a large scale. Instead of having to manually configure access rights for each user, administrators can assign permissions to specific groups, simplifying management and reducing the risk of errors. Additionally, this method is particularly useful in dynamic environments where users frequently change roles or departments, as modifying the permissions of a group automatically affects all members of that group. GBAC integrates well with Zero Trust security policies, where it is assumed that no entity, internal or external, is trusted by default. This means that access to resources is granted based on continuous verification of identity and context, which aligns perfectly with the group structure, allowing for more granular and adaptive control over who can access what resources at any given time.
