Target Instance

Description: A Target Instance is an EC2 instance that is registered in a target group to receive traffic. These instances are key components in the architecture of cloud-based load balancers, which allow for efficient distribution of network traffic across multiple instances to ensure high availability and performance of applications. Target instances can be of different types, including EC2 instances, IP addresses, or containers in a container orchestration platform. Each target instance is configured with specific parameters, such as the port and protocol it will use to receive traffic. This allows system administrators to customize how traffic is routed, thereby optimizing load and enhancing the end-user experience. Additionally, target instances are continuously monitored by the load balancer, which performs health checks to ensure that traffic is only sent to those instances that are operational and responding appropriately. This functionality is essential for maintaining the resilience and scalability of applications in cloud environments, allowing organizations to adapt to changes in traffic demand without compromising performance.
